The Reason for This: A number of our community have expressed an interest in helping people learn how to get the most out of their Christian experience.
In other words, what is our response when a person says that they want to be a Christian, or want to start to live as a Christian and they ask "what should I do". We are concerned that this not become a list of things that a person simply does to become a Christian.
We are also concerned that this not become a gauge for some ones spirituality. The idea is to make available a framework for a person to live their life around. These are not meant to be steps or a process or anything like that. These are meant to help someone be Christian through all of life. These are certainly things people do, but they are intended to come from honesty and authenticity of experience.
It is not even about how a person grows spiritually or becomes a better Christian, but it is about how do we live Christianly in all of life.
These practices are meant to be done the setting of a community and are practiced by people, but are not meant to be an individual pursuit. These are meant to be done by a community of people in connection with one another.
These are similar to Christian Disciplines, but are broader. They are the practices that allow a person to connect with God through historical Christian practices. There is no order to these and some people may chose to focus on particular practices for seasons of life. |
