the Christian Life
Eph 5:1-2
1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love,
just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and
sacrifice to God.
Col 1:10-21
10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may
please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge
of God,
John 15:5, 8
5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him,
he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing÷÷÷÷8This
is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my
disciples.
Phil 1:27
27 Only let your conversation (lifestyle) be as it becometh the gospel of Christ:
that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs,
that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith
of the gospel;

Giving is a Discipline
Matt 6:19-21
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust
destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures
in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break
in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 6:37-38
38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together
and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use,
it will be measured to you."
Prov 11:24-25
24One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes
to poverty. 25A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself
be refreshed.
Luke 11:33-36
33"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or
under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see
the light. 34Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good (that
is when you are generous), your whole body also is full of light. But when they
are bad (when you are stingy), your body also is full of darkness. 35See to it,
then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36Therefore, if your whole body
is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when
the light of a lamp shines on you."

As it Relates to God and the Covenant
Neh 12:44-45
44 At that time men were appointed to be in charge of the storerooms for the contributions,
firstfruits and tithes. From the fields around the towns they were to bring into
the storerooms the portions required by the Law for the priests and the Levites,
for Judah was pleased with the ministering priests and Levites.
Mal 3:8-22 8
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, `How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9You are under a curse-the whole nation of you-because
you are robbing me. 10Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may
be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and
see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it. 11I will prevent pests from devouring
your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says
the LORD Almighty. 12"Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours
will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.

As it Relates to the Community
Ma 6:2-4
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men÷÷÷÷..
3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right
hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees
what is done in secret, will reward you.
James 2: 14-27
14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?
Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and
daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm
and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
2 Cor 8:1-4 8:1
And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the
Macedonian churches. 2Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and
their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3For I testify that they gave
as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own,
they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to
the saints.
2 Cor 9:12-23 12
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people
but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13Because of the
service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience
that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity
in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Kingdom Outreach
Matt 28:18 -29
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very
end of the age."
Luke 19:12-23 12
Therefore He said: "A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive
for himself a kingdom and to return. 13So he called ten of his servants, delivered
to them ten minas, and said to them, 'Do business (occupy) till I come.'
Matt 6:9-20 9
This, then, is how you should pray: "`Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The Heart
2 Cor 9:6-8
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever
sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided
in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful
giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things
at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9As
it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness
endures forever."
1 Tim 6:17-29
17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put
their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who
richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good,
to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way
they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age,
so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Phil 2:5-8 5
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made
himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient
to death- even death on a cross! |
